The plot idea was so cool! And the characters very interesting and different from each other, which is not easy to do with this plot happening… however, I do feel like the middle section of the book dragged a bit (Derby was not exactly an interesting character to be with). I really enjoyed the Ravencourt, Dance and Rashton bits, on the other hand. I really wished that the main characters wouldn’t be 8 able-bodied white cis-straight men; having a bit of diversity would have made the whole thing more interesting. I didn’t love the writing style (nothing wrong with it, but not particularly exciting either) and I would’ve also completely cut the last page of the book, so melodramatic 😂
As for the plot itself, Anna’s true identity didn’t really do it for me, as well as the explanation for the whole setting. I feel like the author had a great idea with the 8 days/8 bodies but didn’t manage to make it make sense in the real world. Maybe keeping it vague would’ve been a better option? The finale was also tight, and I don’t think there are any lose ends (that I could notice, at least); however, it didn’t grip me as much as I would’ve thought.
Great idea, really good execution (idk how he didn’t go crazy while writing), decent ending. I feel like his next works may easily top this one, and I’m here for it!
