The Pemberley Ball: A Pride and Prejudice Vagary Novella by Regina Jeffers, A. Lady
3.0
This is an interesting take on not is all HEA following the engagement. People carry their baggage into relationships and ODC couple were no different.
In fact we saw Elizabeth's lack of self esteem show through even brighter (thank you Mrs. Bennet!), causing her to doubt her ability to do Darcy proud as Mistress of Pemberley.
Then Darcy's former colors reappear by beginning to suggest little ways Elizabeth could "improve" herself , i.e. change - because who she is now isn't good enough!
Obviously, without proper communication, which ODC never really learned to do, things will implode and they did. In the most immature way possible. Thank goodness Darcy loves her as much as he does and realizes it for himself and how much a derk he had been too!
At this point it lagged for me as I lost any caring for what happened the these characters. However, I pushed through and glad I did.
The last parts were very interesting. The author gives us 3 renditions of how ODC meeting up again could go. Each worked, but one was Darcy being more manly man than the last.
And it was all worth it to get to the last chapter!
So for that it upped to 3.5 * for me.
