I feel so conflicted as to how to review this book. It was a captivating read that moved at a fairly steady pace. But I felt an overwhelming sense of discomfort around the depictions of the treatment of the women throughout the book. This book had me feeling many things; rage, disgust, discomfort and frustration. It gave me a general sense of fear as my mind wandered and considered that it isn't that far fetched that the very normalised misogyny/abuse that woman experience regularly could easily descend into something like this. I'm almost certain that things like this already exist in the underbelly of our society.
But if you can tolerate a read that pulls you into a dark sense of dread and discomfort and holds you there until the very end, this is for you. I also liked the audiobook format of this book as it leant in to the feel of a podcast.
