Burdy by Karen Spears Zacharias
3.0
First sentence: Burdy didn't set out that morning aiming to get shot by the end of the day.
Favorite quote: The day the airmail letter first arrived, the oxeye daisies bordering the walk between the house and the mailbox bunched together as if whispering secrets to one another.
This was a sequel to [b:Mother of Rain|19454614|Mother of Rain|Karen Spears Zacharias|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1386995321s/19454614.jpg|25450077], but could easily stand alone. It was a compelling story that had an easy flow to it. At only 175 I read it almost in one sitting.
