You Sound Like a White Girl: The Case for Rejecting Assimilation by Julissa Arce
4.0
I can totally see this book being required or recommended reading material for a Chicano Studies, ethnic studies, or sociology course. I loved learning about the court cases and education movements that were led by Mexican American communities because it reminds me of the education debt that Gloria Ladson-Billings has spoken/written about since 2006. I am continuously reminded that Brown children (and Black children) are excluded from an equitable and culturally responsive education. Our educational justice is interconnected.
