funny lighthearted

2.0

A fairly lighthearted novel with a lot of funny moments. Although it was entertaining, I think it was a bit lacking, thus the low rating I’m giving it.

More details below (spoilers!)

1.
I think the bickering/teasing dynamic between the MC and the ML could have been better executed. Having the ML constantly calling the MC things like “trash” and doing whatever he wants wasn’t really my cup of tea.

2.
There were a few misogynistic moments in the book, specially at the beginning, that made me quite uncomfortable. Having the main characters say women aren’t as capable as men doesn’t make them likeable at all.

3.
One of the side couples is constantly fighting and when the MC asked the female guide about it, she told him the sentinel discovered they were compatible when she was only 12 years old and tried to make a move on her, so although she liked him she also thinks he’s a sc*mbag and hates him for it. And instead of empathising with her, the MC says the male sentinel is pitiful???? He even thinks it’s hard on him because how was he supposed to control himself???? Like are we kidding???
