The plot was dragging on and the character development was just not there for me. The FMC was kinda pitiful to be honest. I get that she was a young woman of little means and no family and that marrying this powerful man was perceived as adventurous and smart on her part but this was labeled a classic romantic suspense novel and there was no romance, none. She idolized this dude that was more than 20 years her senior and she made him feel alive again. It was boring and I just couldn’t care to continue. Don’t think I’ll read another book by Du Maurier again. Maybe Jamaica Inn since I’ve already watched the adaptation.
