Bad Seed by Alan Carter

4.0

Absolutely wonderful dialogue, wry social commentary (immigration, teen-angst, electioneering), and a great sense of place (Fremantle, Shanghai, Perth, Augusta). Carter juggles two parallel plots throughout the book - quite a feat - and his depiction of the workings of the Western Australian police is very convincing. If I have any criticism at all, it is that the pace is occasionally a little slow. Nevertheless, highly recommended.
