I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t my favourite book of the series. Maybe the fact that I read it right after Moonlocket dampens the feel a little, as it doesn’t even mildly compare to that. It felt a little too mature even for middle grade. I’ve read these books in continuous succession so I can safely ascertain that. It also dragged on at times and Lily somehow felt too forgiving - if that makes sense.

However, being given development on Lily’s cogheart is lovely and very much needed. It was bound to be discovered at some point.

Overall, this book was good but doesn’t live up to the first two by any means. Hopefully book 4 is better!!
