Another wonderful Thursday Murder Club book, I am definitely a fan of the series now I’ve got into the writing style!! The characters just get more and more wonderful, more and more developed, more and more interesting. I loved to see Joyce stepping up and taking charge more in this book, and to see Elizabeth stepping back a bit (even if it was for sad reasons). The story itself was brilliant and kept you totally hooked the whole time, and I definitely didn’t guess what was going on, which is always key for a whodunnit! There were also queer relationships in this book, which I loved, as up until this point the series has been very hetero-normative, so seeing two mentions of queer relationships was absolutely wonderful. There’s also definitely room for more expansion on one of them, and I really hope that will be covered in later books. Finally, I think the most powerful sections of the book were the sections that wrote about and described dementia. They were so incredibly moving, and heartbreaking, and I am really glad that Richard Osman included them. There needs to be greater public understanding of what dementia actually is and how it feels for those experiencing it. An absolutely fantastic read.
