I think this is my new favorite book. I finished it in january and am writing this review in June. This book has stuck with me so deeply since. I think about it almost one to two times a week. As an African American whose resilient ancestors survived the trauma of slavery. Whose resilience allowed me to thrive as I am today, these stories are forever stuck to my heart. Because they could be the stories of my ancestors. This book inspired my lifelong journey towards connecting with my ancestors in every way I know how. I am forever changed by this book.
