I found that the prose itself was decent but not memorable. I kept reading for the plot since there were some twists that I didn't expect and was impressed with. However, I did feel that the ending let down the momentum that had been built in the middle of the book. I see what the author is trying to do with the ending (and the book in general), trying to make a statement on the way that families hide secrets even from each other, and the way that lying can become ingrained in some peoples way of being, but I could have gathered that from reading the dust jacket.
Graphic: Bullying, Gore, Blood, Suicide attempt, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Adult/minor relationship, Drug abuse, Drug use, Infidelity, Panic attacks/disorders, Vomit, Toxic friendship, and Classism
