This is the third book I’ve read by this author and the first one I didn’t really like. They’ve all had similar kinds of left field twists but this one just left a bad taste in my mouth. The latter half of the book was just so confusing that it felt like I was spinning in a washer with the ending feeling like I had forgotten to add detergent to the cycle.
I’m not a big fan of unreliable narrators and I felt duped more than satisfied by the twist. I think a more traditional POV would’ve made the ending much more satisfying but it wouldn’t be a Feeney novel without this dynamic that has made her other books so enjoyable.
The ending has my feeling like I should be saying “good for her” but I’m left with “good for her?”
