I’ve loved this book ever since I first read it. I think I’ve read it 3x now. You have to love the characters, the stuff about the French Foreign Legion, the themes of friendship, brotherhood, and an all too English sacrifice. It’s a man’s book, battles, hardship, and nasty characters, all make it great reading with an intriguing mystery to boot.
