The Menopause Manifesto: Own Your Health with Facts and Feminism by Jen Gunter

slow-paced

3.0

I started this book last year thinking I would get a jumpstart on what’s ahead for me and my future options, but discovered very abruptly that hormone therapy will not be possible for me. The rest of the book ended up being almost useless after that. I was disappointed that such an otherwise thorough book is so lacking on non-hormonal therapy (including the lovely segment where she “debunks” supplements, some because they haven’t been studied enough, some because studies show no statistical improvement, and some because “your supplements are probably adulterated so therefore supplements as a whole are useless”. Gee, thanks. That’s super scientific. So long as doctors don’t bother treating patients properly, I’ll keep self-dosing as I please).
