The collector has been a very .. hmm .. weird read tbh.  Miranda (the posh artist) dies at the end while Fred the butterfly collector keeps her prisoner till she croaks. He really did kill her with kindness .. i liked the ending tho. The book showed me how polar opposites look like in forced conditions, i zoned out sometimes but at times i was like .. BOUND AND GAGGED 😭😭  i told hammad it was pseudosmut(wtf that is). Fred/caliban(albeit creepy asf) was a better storyteller than miranda ever was. I mean, sure he kidnapped her but she was such a bitchhh. Gurl you could've just stabbed him with your teeth or something. So many missed opportunities for gore.
The cover of the broken butterfly wing is symbolic. It's like how miranda was caged in that cellar and how fred was caged in his mindspace. 2 worlds, homogenizing like water and oil but at the end. They're polar opposites and can never become the other(new people/intellectuals reference)
