The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
3.75
as soon as i was recommended this book i knew i’d enjoy it. although i’m not used to reading fantasy, it’s written in a way that’s not overwhelming & the world building isn’t trying to confuse you like some i’ve read. it’s a simple premise with the focus on intriguing characters (some more developed than others) with the add on element of magic sprinkled in. one think that i wish was explored more was the magic & the history itself, it feels like the story could exist without it which lessens it in a way. yes, it’s more of an examination into the characters but i wish i’d learnt what magic is on a grander scale to understand its effect on them. overall, i think it’s a great introduction into the fantasy genre with dark themes & great character study.
