“It’s a widely known fact that most moms are ready to kill someone by eight thirty A.M. on any given morning.”

I didn’t know how to feel about this premise at first, but a friend recommended it so I had to give it a try. And I’m so glad I listened to them!!

Finlay Donovan is your average single mom struggling together. Between the unending pile of bills, impending custody lawsuit with her cheating ex-husband, and a book with a nearing deadline Finlay is stressed to the max and is ready to commit murder. Figuratively of course. That is until her conversation is overheard and misinterpreted. Before she knows what’s hit her, Finlay has been hired to off a skeezy, blackmailing accountant. Of course she’s not going to do it! But $50,000 is a lot of cash…

Okay I loved this book. But before I get into the review it should be noted that YES this entire book is extremely far fetched — so if you’re looking for a  realistic, toe-curling, high stakes thriller this isn’t it. I mean yes, there are high stakes. But is this going to give you nightmares? No. This book is supposed to be far fetched and funny. And it delivered!!

This storyline was entirely unique and entertaining! I was on laughing out loud AND was on the edge of my seat. I listened to the audiobook for this one (and yes audiobooks count as reading) and the narrator, Angela Dawes, did a fabulous job. She WAS Finlay Donovan. My one hang up was her narration of the side characters — they were a bit rough around the edges so while I loved Angela as Finlay  I would recommend you get the physical copy if poor side characters are a make or break for you. I’m not holding it against Angela though because everything else was SPOT on!  If you’re looking for a fun, light heated mystery this is it! With just a splash of romance 😊
