Despite this being a YA title, Holly Black effortlessly brings the world of Faerie to life in stunning detail and puts all these other romantasy jokers to shame with her vividly horrifying yet beautiful faeries. I absolutely love the way the faeries are extremely feral and off-putting, it makes the romance all the more compelling.
I actually wish that I had read this trilogy before The Cruel Prince. While The Folk of the Air is definitely a more masterful romance, if you’re hungry for more from this world I definitely recommend this trilogy.
