I received a copy of Our World is a Family by Miry Whitehill and Jennifer Jackson with pictures by Nomar Perez from Sourcebooks in exchange for an honest review.

This wonderful and welcoming picture book starts off with sharing how there are many people who live around the world, speaking different different languages, and living in different environments. It goes on to share that everyone wants to feel safe and at times, the places we live in may not be that and will be a reason why people leave their homes. This is a book for young children to understand why families and people may move all around the world - sometimes not by choice - and how we can welcome them through learning their languages, sharing food and information, building and working together. What a wonderful and relevant book to share with children as the world continues to see huge movements of refugees seeking safety, peace, and happiness.
