Out of Season by Antonio Manzini

4.0

Really enjoying this series. This 4th instalment was a bit bumpier because my focus and concentration are terrible lately, and there are meandering storylines in this book. They're all related, but my wonky brain had me going, "Wait, what?", then doubling back to re-read. (As you can see by how long it took me to actually finish the story. Doh!) Not at all the fault of the book. Manzini's writing is sharp and fun, and his characters are well-developed and full of quirks -very entertaining.

Apparently there are a bunch more books in the series, but they're not available to me through my library system yet, so on to find my next series. (Reading mojo still not at all great, and very much reading in recovery-mode, so these lower stakes mysteries are what's working right now. And by 'lower stakes', I mean they are not emotionally taxing or require a lot of my brain. Not at all a comment on the genre or quality of the stories I've been reading lately.)
