i got the special privilege to meet the author of this book at an event promoting hope for people and especially children on the autism spectrum . and after being able to read part of her story, i am even more appreciative to have met her, and additionally to have gotten to at the event i did, because her story provides an example of how a learning disability diagnosis may be part of the story of an individual, but does not have to be the defining aspect of it, or even a primary aspect of it. there are so many significant events that occur in the story of her life that amnoni describes in the book that the learning disability she receives a diagnosis for in her childhood only adds to the resilience and adaptability she shows throughout the journey of her life she describes in the book. more significant to the work she has done in her career seems to focus on the foster care system and advocating for justice and awareness in that sphere, though by including some ways she deals with her learning diagnosis, the author also educates readers as to some of the connections that exist among the education system, exceptional needs learning, and the foster care system. so, for anyone who works in any or multiple of these areas of focus, or either just appreciates the way a vulnerable and forthcoming memoir can inspire growth in social awareness of readers, i highly recommend this book from such a skilled and engaging author as mrs amnoni myers.
