I think I actually liked this more than book 2 -- I think the characters were more engaging, although I didn't fall in love with it the same way I did with MY LADY JANE. Still, I think fans of the series will enjoy!

However, I wasn't too keen on how the narrative glosses over the corruption and issues with the Pinkertons and just kind of frames them as detectives for the greater good rather than a sketchy institution that tried to bust unions.
