I loved this and felt so seen. This romance has an HEA, but by the end, the characters are still struggling with some things, and I liked that. This dives into complex family issues, autism, burnout, and caretaking with a lot of grace. The book feels fractured and jarring at many points, letting you feel everything along with Anna. This one didn’t feel as seamless or as polished as Hoang’s other books, but it felt deeply cathartic and relatable. Hoang ends her author’s note with the sentence “If you’re hurting, please be kind to yourself,” and that is the plea of the story as well.
