I think I'm of the unpopular opinion of preferring the graphic novels to the tv show. Seeing the scenes that I loved in the graphic novel on screen was a lot more cringe worthy than expected; moments that made me smile whilst reading made me hide behind me hands whilst watching. Maybe because it didn't feel natural, I could really feel the acting (especially by Joe Locke) during the scenes, maybe because some things can't be translated well from one media to another regardless it made me question my love for the series that I had to reread it just to make sure. I watched the tv show 3 times just to make sure since everyone else seemed to be loving it especially Nick & Charlie but that wasn't the case for me however I did fall in love with the side characters a lot more in the tv show. They expanded so much on Tao & Elle's story and added more depth between them and about their home life, as well as Darcy & Tara's. Imogen & Sahar's story is really interesting as well since Imogen isn't in the heartstopper-verse so it isn't set in stone with how their story may progress (demisexual, demiromantic, lesbian Imogen for the win!) What I definitely need more of is the teachers Mr Ajayi and Mr Farouk, I need a whole graphic novel or book on their relationship, something about their relationship dynamic and their personalities has made me crave more of it. I think I will only continue to watch the show for the side characters since I really like how its playing out and just stick to the graphic novels and books for more Nick & Charlie moments.
