The last book of 2024 is an absolute banger; I absolutely adored this. It has a lot of things I enjoy in books, including an exploration of grief and complicated families, as well as loneliness and the ways it eats at you. The writing is straightforward in a way that was incredibly relatable to me, and there were times a sentence would make me stop reading to catch my breath. I loved Mack and her family in all of their fucked-uppedednes. This is one of those books that moved me in a way I have a hard time articulating, other than to say how much I loved it. One of my favorites of the year.
