A cross between These Violent Delights and A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, this queer mystery traverses the playhouses of London, the court of Queen Elizabeth, and the English countryside. 
Yes, there is romance, but there’s almost too much plot to fully sink into it. 
The tragedies felt a bit out of proportion to the swoonworrhy and joyful moments. I also could never quite get a handle on Will/Elias’ character- I honestly don’t know if I could confidently tell you whether he went through character development or not. 
I really wanted to like this book but it fell a bit flat for me in the end…
