Land Beyond Maps by Maida Tilchen
4.0
Well-written and well-researched,I enjoyed taking this novelistic trip into the American Southwest of the 1920s. The blend of fictional and non-fictional characters works well, and the pacing of the story hums along at just the right pace.
My only gripe? Since all of the main characters are White, the Native characters remain on the periphery. Since this writer does such a good job of representing some extremely different points of view,I was hoping that she'd climb out just a bit further on the imaginative limb and add a Native character to the central group.
All the same, I recommend this book, and look forward to reading Tilchen's next book.
