Really liked this book. The quiet narration and entrance into a compelling story had me from the beginning. So much variety of character and a great look into real happenings in history that aren't often written about. Author's imagination and engagement with the series of events told a great story about who humans really are and what we are willing to do, how far we will go if pressed or threatened. The end left me feeling somehow appropriately bereft, too.
