Mignola's art remains my favorite part of this series but even at this early stage the scope of storytelling is becoming apparent and incredibly impressive. There's simply no other series like this. This volume feels a little bit more confident in itself, and as such some of the Lovecraftian cosmic horror feels more solid and engaging, and Hellboy's personality is a little more cohesive which leads to some really humorous moments.
