Prince of Endless Tides by Ben Alderson
Did not finish book. Stopped at 22%.
The writing was repetitive; I'd liken it to running on a treadmill, in which you just aren't going anywhere. It felt like (especially in the prologue) that the same thing was being said slightly differently the entire time.
The smut in the first chapter was not even good and the writing gave CW show and not in an entertaining TVD way. Because the whole,"How I remembered I didn't know. It just seemed to be a part of me..." was corny asf to me.
Not only that but how the mc and the ml interacted was giving fake mad because"I'm going to fucking kill him" being on Ernest's mind after all the ml did was help him was so forced to me. Especially with the context of Killian telling him not to leave because Ernest turned into a mer in front of everybody and was going to be killed by his own father's guards. Not to mention that Ernest was thinking that as Killian was addressing the wound on his arm? BYE.
This is my first book from this author and I really wanted to like it because I adore the concept of queer mermaid stories but this was not it for me. However, my fingers are crossed in the hopes that I'll enjoy their other works more.
