The Perfect Escape by Leah Konen

dark mysterious sad medium-paced

2.5

Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys mystery/thriller with a lot of plot twists!

I struggled with two things here: the characters and sometimes the writing.

I disliked all of the characters expect for maybe two. Reading Sam's pov was annoying and I could not root for her because of her actions and the way she kept trying to place blame and accountability elsewhere.

The author does a really good job with foreshadowing. We as the reader reach certain conclusions at the same time as the characters which is nice. However, when you've made the realization and it still takes another page or so to confirm it it was annoying because there was always an extra build up to whatever was being revealed that wasn't needed.
