Very interesting and spicy Roku x Sozin background lore, & knowing everything that comes of this adds a layer of devastation and agony that hits. At times it was definitely a bit slow & repetitive, but I enjoyed this!

Cannibalism metaphor, queer theory, critical disability studies, trauma/grief narrative, nature of monstrosity commentary all wrapped up in a semi “cozy” (arguably) genre bending horror/folklore/literary realism story with a wildly unique narrative structure where each act is narrated by a different character…. Ate this up ngl

Highly recommend reading this book in nature if you can. This is a nonfiction that at times read a tad too textbook-y for my liking, but there’s so many beautiful quotes in here & it’s such a powerful indigenous perspective on the earth & I had such a grounding experience reading this

Anne Rice you are so crazy for this…. Lestat apparently they can make me love you……

The beginning and ending were a very strong 5⭐️ vibe. The middle portion at times had pacing issues, but I felt like Anne’s incorporation of history was very very interesting, and I can’t WAIT to see how to show retells this book oh my GODDDDDD.

I can’t bring myself to give this book 5⭐️ though I loved it. Anne simply writes very questionable things at times. Her obsession with incestuous erotic undertones is so weird and bizarre, & this book definitely falls into some questionably orientalist tropes at times & I’m very interested to see how the show will handle this.

A visceral firsthand account of growing up in Occupied Palestine, the treatment of Palestinians by the IDF, & the accounts of time spent in Israeli prison. Such an important read that I wish more people knew about

This was a really cute premise that was definitely reminiscent of like Alice in Wonderland/Narnia/Ready Player 1/Stranger Things, but I wish the fantasy elements felt more true to the 90’s dark fantasy aesthetic, & honestly I wish this book had horror elements to it as well. The first half of this was cute & good, but the second half really dragged & I feel like in the end nothing really happened?

I have been so excited for this book for so long and unfortunately the English translation is just not clicking in my brain. I’m actually devastated and wish I spoke the original language because this book seems really good
