I love you. Most ardently.

This is an easy classic to get into despite the language being confusing at times to understand (due to the time period). But it was a good read and I overall enjoyed it.

It also inspired me to read other classics such as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.

I was really liking this book so far but when I put it down and picked it up again, I just didn’t care about what was happening anymore.

"No sequels, no requels, and no fucking remakes."

The Blonde Dies First was a good book. Not great, amazing, or utterly mind-blowing. Just good, and that's fine. The writing style was straight-forward and easy to follow, the execution of the premise was well carried out, and the characters are lovable and relatable.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between Devon and her twin sister, Drew, this all started because of their fractured relationship and ended with them beginning to fix it.

But a major problem for me is I felt like it was a lot of telling and instead of showing.

I honestly just become really unmotivated to finish this book, it was sitting in my Kindle library literally collecting dust.

This was a very lighthearted and fluffy read for me. And although I did find the humor corny and the romance a bit instant-lovey, I really didn’t mind. The ending scene with them in their wedding gowns was my favorite part of the book.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a good palette cleanser from any darker and gritty books.

This was a very underwhelming squeal to a book that I really liked. It wasn't completely trash, so it gets 3-stars, but it still really left me disappointed.

Firstly, the way the characters cuss in this book is how middle school kids think is how you cuss. It's very childish and in my opinion, juvenile. Secondly, Ikenna has changed very little since the first book, she's still brash, impulsive, and annoyingly stubborn to the point of unlikeability. I expected a lot more character development from her but instead was left annoyed and disappointed with her and this book.

I most likely have more complaints about this book but these are my main ones.

This book is the perfect fall read, especially for September and October. 🍂 All the twists and turns left me shocked and reeling, though I did predict one of them but it still shocked nonetheless.

But one of my complaints is how flat Sade’s character seemed to be. It just felt her only personality trait was how much she loves swimming and
her dead sister
, she didn’t really have a distinctive personality to me. Another thing I didn’t like was how fast Persephone and Sade’s relationship moved towards the end, I wish it had more build up and didn’t feel so rushed. And lastly, Juliette was also a flat character to me. Persephone and April all were involved in the main story in some way, but Juliette felt more like a background character than actual side character like how Basil was. Maybe she could’ve had a crush on Jude or been more involved in finding Elizabeth because one of the things about her character is that she likes true crime (which is only mentioned once by the way). Also, it’s implied that she’s lying about having a boyfriend but it never goes anywhere from what I remember, which is just really disappointing to me. Her character just felt unfinished.

Onto the things I did like about the book. The mystery really pulls you in and was overall really interesting. I also like how April didn’t act like the typical queen-bee character, she was cold and aloof which I really liked about her character. And Francis being the only decent guy throughout this entire book was shocking but predicted. I just wish we got more insight on April and August’s relationship with their parents, the glimpse we got seemed really interesting. Same goes for Persephone and Basil.

Overall, good book but could’ve been better.
