"In some ways, I think that part of what I’m trying to accomplish—
whether Amá really understands it or not—is to live for her, Apá, and
Olga. It’s not that I’m living life for them, exactly, but I have so many
choices they’ve never had, and I feel like I can do so much with what I’ve been given. What a waste their journey would be if I just settled for a dull, mediocre life. Maybe one day they’ll realize that."

What a suprise, this book! The story got me hooked from the first page until the last one. Julia is a really interesting character. She's real and raw, and that makes the story powerful and easy to relate to. Growing up is hard, especially when you don't fit into the categories society and your family wants you to. All the other characters are equally interesting and keep the story going. I could write pages and pages reviewing this book but I'll end it here for now. (Be aware of some TWs before reading it!)
