This was a great book that speaks to the journey of mulatto women. I enjoyed the characters as they navigated in this tough time. However, I wanted more from this book it felt like a recounting of a tale instead of us following Pheby in her trials. I wanted more emotion and depth, but everything was sped over. I did enjoy the writing but I wish this book was longer.

This book kept me confused till the end and as typical in Frida McFadden fashion, the person she is strongly hinting towards is never the right answer. This had good twist but was overall okay,  not my favorite by her but still enjoyed and finished in 1 sitting.

I loved all of the characters in this Kaladin is amazing and his determination and skill was one of my favorites to read. But I loved all the characters POV and cared about them all. The pacing of this was very slow but it’s to be expected, some areas sped up but the end was so great and made all of the world building worth the build up.

This was such a funny read, the banters between characters were super good and just hilarious they both had comebacks for days. I liked the slow burn of the their relationship while they were still friends. The miscommunication of this book is what brought this down for me. Aaliyah was just getting mad and neverrrrrr listened, I really liked her besides this, but girl you too old to not be listening. She was so stubborn about the wrong stuff. But romance was good and spicy scenes were well worth the wait. Ahmad could talk that talk 👀

I can’t even begin to explain how good this book was. I couldn’t put this down how wrapped in the story I was. Czar and Marley were 2 broken people who found peace in each other. They both had me wanting to throw this book across the room at 2am but I needed to know what was going to happen. Every character in this book was so well written and were hilarious, I died laughing at so many parts and the banter that occurred. TikTok was not wrong about how good this was. If you thinking about reading it, just pick it up and start.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of this ending! Felt like to many pieces were wrapped up.  But I still enjoyed this series!
