This was a solid four-star mystery. It kept me turning the pages late into the night. I managed to read this book and just less than 24 hours. It did have predictable plot twists that I could see from fairly early on in the book, but that didn't lessen my enjoyment of it. I really enjoyed the characters of Allison and Chaz in particular. If you're looking for something to get you out of a reading slump this would be a good pick.

On the whole, I really enjoyed this story. It was a unique fantasy setting with an exciting Watson and Holmes Duo in our main characters. Everything about this world was really unlike anything else I've read. From the language that he uses, to the mystery we're trying to solve, to the setting with these leviathans and walls, it was very immersive and exciting to read.

That being said, readers should know that this is not a light fantasy read. This is one that's going to take a little bit of concentration. I was reading the physical book and listening to the audiobook at the same time, and I found that when I was only doing the audio I was becoming lost. I couldn't do another task and listen to the audiobook at the same time. I would always find myself backtracking to fully understand what had just happened, especially as the mystery becomes more complicated, more murders happen, and more suspects come on the scene.

Therefore, I read this book fairly slowly for my pace, and I felt that It was worth it in the end. It's not going to be a light fluffy mystery. This is going to be a world that will take a little bit of work but the work is worth it. I will be reading the next one in the series and I look forward to it in this next year.

I don't care if Oprah put this on her book club, this is an amazing piece of writing. Riviting from beginning to end! I loved how characters weaved in an out of the story. Totally deserved the Pulitzer it received!!

Good story. I'm facinated with the Amish, so that made it an interesting read. The plot seemed contrived at times, but overall, I couldn't put it down for the time I was reading it!

Amazing prose in this book! The story was good, but it was really the way in which is was written that captured me!

I was one of those rare individuals that read this book before I saw the movie. After I read this book, I saw the movie and didn't really like the movie! That shows how amazing this book is!! If you're a fan of the movie, read this book. . .it's SO much better!
