when reading this book, i felt so deeply connected to its message of wholehearted love. in showing love to ourselves and others, we heal, we grow, we connect, we learn, we understand, and our beings become stronger and confident. the society wr live in wants us to gravitate towards lovelessness, to burn us out, but love is saying “we will rise up. we will be.”

as always, alice wong’s incredible inclusion of disabled writers has always been one of my favourite things to read. although, i would like to note that not every article/essay here necessarily comments on intimacy, which i would have appreciated a lot more of. otherwise, an incredible, heartwarming and emotional book that i think everyone should read.

- an essential read to those who wish to dismantle capitalism and white supremacy their daily lives.
- as capitalism drives society to call us lazy, we have the power to dismantle it from the ground up, by allowing ourselves and our community to rest without reason.
- pros: an incredible reminder to push ourselves back into rest, community care and liberation
- cons: constantly repeats itself, could have been an essay, convoluted at times.

- an impactful and powerful story about grief, with quite a few flaws that limit the story’s potential. is a written version of a film by the same name and the same author/filmmaker.
- pros: queer indigenous romance, realistic portrayal of grief and of reservations,
- cons: main character’s development was rushed & out of proportion at times, little to no emotional pay off from the book’s dark themes, no character arc for our romantic pair, cheating trope.
Graphic: Death, Drug use, Homophobia, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Suicide, Grief, and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Alcoholism and Bullying
