I’ve read a few comedian memoirs and this is my new favorite. The audio book read by the author was wonderful. I found the stories and anecdotes funny and relatable. Adding ‘mentals’ to my vocabulary!

This is the type of book I read slow because every other sentence feels like a thesis. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I almost dnf’d but im glad i stuck with it and finished it right before xmas. Once i went in with the perspective of schitts creek meets holiday romcom i was able to get more into the narrative. Yes its a lil cheesy, and unbelievable but most stories following these themes are. Overall an enjoyable easy read with some insight into generational family dynamics and coming of age.

This lyrical beautiful prose reads like a dream. I believe this short book will haunt me in a good way.

Took me a great deal longer to finish this installment but worth it in the end. I do wish some parts near the end were more fleshed out while other parts, in the beginning, were described in great detail. Temeraire is as always charming and well earned his rank of my favorite character.

Overall mildly interesting throughout but it kept me wanting something more. It offers several anecdotes but seems to glaze over a lot. It felt like the types of stories you would tell on a late night show not a memoir. There were some insightful moments like the comparison of Draco and Harry as characters and touches the surface on celebrity rehab culture. The most cloying part was the several mentions of praise for JKR to be rounded off at the end with a diatribe about online trolls. Very odd for specifically mention negative online experience while praising one of the most hateful influential trolls of the modern age. Was waiting for some pipin hot tea, but alas was lukewarm.

Enjoyed reading this. Im interested to see how the series develops as i plan to read the 2nd book soon. The writing itself was easy to ready and the story was simple to follow. I really lost myself in this and felt like I was wrapped up in a queer hallmark movie.

Content warnings are inaccurate bc there is NOT graphic depictions of sexual assault or rape. Idk why people tagged it for that.
