Well written with an indulgence in sarcasm that I appreciate but I found some of her arguments to be disproportionately assertive compared to the superficiality and over generalization of some of her reasoning and only cursory acknowledgement that her sweeping claims only apply in a heterosexual context…which isn’t a crime, you can’t cover everything, but it’s just kind of boring to me. I can’t fully articulate what about this book rubbed me the wrong way, but the author covers some really compelling topics and their histories and makes big swings, even if she doesn’t sell me on her takes…kinda felt like she wrote about fragment fiction like maggie nelson’s bitter ex lol.  Worth the read though, gave me a lot to chew on and unpack in myself
