Killer of Mine by Alexis Grace

I picked up this book because I loved the concept. Daughter of a serial killer with FBI boyfriends? It reminded me of the Mindf*ck series but make it whychoose. I did very much enjoy the mystery aspect of the book but the lack of tension between the characters was disappointing.

I feel like the vibes were there but the story was just all over. Homegirl really just hopped into a relationship with all these men day one. No push and pull. Just straight take me.

I think I might read book 2 but I’m not sure tbh.

This book actually made me want to scream lol If your goal was to break our hearts well Giana you succeeded. I rarely say this about Giana’s characters but I could not stand Savannah & Adam. I started to come around to them towards the end but obviously that was a mistake. I know I know their love story is meant to be complex but Sebastian is the baby of the family — nobody messes with little potato and gets away with it.

My mind can’t help but circle back to Sebastian visiting Elena and that conversation they had in the Anti-Heroes duet. I really hope that Savannah & Adam redeem themselves soon.

I felt like I came in the middle of a n important conversation with zero context. I was confused majority of the book. Scratch that.. the entire book. Amidst the confusion I was constantly thrust into shock and a bit of sadness for the characters I did remember. I’m not going to lie all I remember from Iron Flame is Violet and Xaden arguing for pages. I’m a bit tired of their tortured storyline.

Not feeling it

I usually love Helen’s books but this was just not it. I’ve never read a story line with such a weak female. I understand being in a whirlwind romance but Skye basically lost her brain. She couldn’t think for herself, never defended herself against his craziness.. she lacked spunk and sass. I was sick of her but I managed to finish. I was sick of them both, there’s just no story here and if there is.. it’s taking too long to see where it’s going. The development of their relationship is just poor and uninteresting. Bradens treatment is borderline abusive. “If you can’t do this then you can’t be with me” type of ultimatum continually coming up and Skye following like a puppy dog. We love a good alpha male but we also love a strong female lead that is headstrong in life but willing to submit in the areas that matter to her partner. Skye is not that lead
