3.5-4 stars. I’m left with a LOT of questions. You won’t end this book having a clear understanding of why things were happening and there are a lot of loose ends, but it was compelling and scary, and I had a fun time reading it!

While not at all a bad book, this one did not live up to my expectations. The tone was the most serious of the 3 books, and yet the plot was quite light, the pacing a bit slow. We didn’t get nearly as much banter between Wendell and Emily, and the ending fell flat for me. K still love the writing style, the characters, and the world the story is built in.

3.5-4 stars. It was compulsively readable and I enjoyed it even if I wasn’t totally wowed by anything.

2.5-3 stars. It was just too slow for me. I did like the writing but it was overly flowery and detailed in areas it didn’t need to be in my opinion. I own the second book but don’t think I’ll pick it up.
