It’s as good as I remember it being in high school 😂
Prince Vald takes up a cursed sword to defend his kingdom, then is exiled and goes on a quest to break his curse. He seeks out the sorcerer Halvir, who agrees to help him out of curiosity. Vald turns into his demon self at night, and let me tell you, they start fucking *immediately *. Gotta give the demon release to keep the beast in check I guess. Glaring consent issues aside, this is a Yaoi classic. It’s got way more plot than your average BL, the art is great, and it’s frequently hilarious. Vald starts developing feelings for Havi, but doesn’t yet know what him and his demon self get up to at night. I don’t remember how they resolve that but I’ll have to read more and find out.
Oh, and there’s a bonus chapter with tentacles. Because why not.

Even though I undertook quite the effort to get all three volumes of this in the physical form (for some reason I was really hung up on not wanting to read this on-line) I wasn't sure how much I would like this in the end. But I was pleasantly surprised! It's a good fantasy story with an intriguing enough plot and great characters. Ayano Yamane's art is absolutely gorgeous, I can't get enough of it, but the best part of this was probably its humor. I didn't expect it to be as funny as it is, and it really made the difference for me.
I'm always surprised how much I enjoy fantasy manga, considering how little interest I usually have for fantasy as a genre these days. One of the reasons may be that manga simply take a lot less time to read, and one of the things that put me off fantasy is that it tends to require a lot of commitment, time-wise. And I admit, the m/m parts included in the manga helps, too.
I'm always surprised how much I enjoy fantasy manga, considering how little interest I usually have for fantasy as a genre these days. One of the reasons may be that manga simply take a lot less time to read, and one of the things that put me off fantasy is that it tends to require a lot of commitment, time-wise. This is a typical Yamane manga with her ever so gorgeous art. The premise of the story, being fantasy based, is interesting and she know how mix just a dash of humor (Natural fairy lamp. Hit it and the fairy will glow in anger... priceless!) with a generous amount of pure smut! Lovely, lovely smut!
It being a yaoi and as thus often less story-based and much more sex-based, I am nevertheless nicely impressed with the story found in this one. It's engaging and I can't help but want to know how our dear prince Val will react when he realizes that Havi has been using his beastly form as a sex boy-toy... fufufufu~

While I find the detailed art to be amazing, it also sometimes is a bit too busy and detracts from what's actually happening in a scene. That said, it's still gorgeous.
The visuals are sex-heavy, but the plot appears to be building into something deep and complex, which is what I'm in it for. Okay, and the sexy demon with all the tattoos.

Looking for Yaoi with an actual PLOT?! Here it is! I really enjoyed reading this - it has a perfect balance of action and "action" ;-)
