This is one of the best books I've read in a long time. The dystopian future world of Panem reminded me scarily of our own. Collins writing style makes Katniss a truly sympathetic heroine and had me rooting for her the whole way. Only problem with the book is that it ends badly and rather abruptly, but as it is part one of a trilogy, that only makes sense.

Enjoyed this, but I think I would have liked it better had I not seen the movie first. The movie was about 85% faithful to the book which left little room for surprises or extra insight into the characters. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
