I love Dean Koontz so it is so sad that I had to quit this book without finishing. It killed me to do so as I have only quit two other books that I can remember No matter how hard I tried I couldn't make it past page 250. The story didn't hold my attention and I didn't fall in love with the characters.

Great Entertainment

So many places in this book surprised me! It was like riding a roller coaster, so many twists and turns. I loved it.

This was a great listen. The story of Jimmy Tock and the 5 horrible days his grandfather predicts for Jimmy on his deathbed. The characters, plot, and twists along the way. Great story!

I read it over a decade ago. I remember this book as:
1. the reason I thought I might like Dean  Koontz in the future (I don't)
2. Promising catastrophe but not delivering
3. Having a terrible final third and ending
4. The best Dean Koontz book I've ever read. So... 3 stars 😂

It is safe to say I have thoroughly grown out of Dean Koontz. This was a bit saccharine and sometimes a bit hamfistedly moralizing. It wasn’t terrible but made me remember why I stopped reading this guy.

Dean koontz is another that I used to really love. Lately each book has been implausible, almost bizarre and disappointing.

It was recommended because it was "so funny." I don't know that it was terribly funny, but it was compelling and interesting. I listened to it and the reader was quite good.

This book has lots of fun twists and turns. Very fun world building with the bakers and the clowns and the aerialists and mysterious dates. A fun cozy winter read.
