this was a really good sequel in a lot of ways but it did let me down a little compared to the first one. it picks up right where the first book left off and it had all the same incredible writing, pacing and tension in it. i really liked the story and the big reveals had me confused and amazed.

nick and quinn were cute as usual, and i loved that there was no third act breakup in this book or the first one because it worked perfectly. they actually communicated and worked together and moved past their disagreements which i loved. jeff also made a recurring appearance in the book and i was surprised he didn't do anything with all his threats - if anything, it would have been interesting to see if he did and how nick and quinn would work their way out of it. he kept threatening nick but never really did a big show of proving him wrong.

the plot was good, as i said, but the whole time travelling thing was a bit of a let down. apart from the end, where quinn does get used to her ability, she doesn't use it at all which was so annoying. they kept saying from the first book how it was possible things would be better if she harnessed her power and she literally never did. the chapters where she did get stuck in the past were so cool and interesting to read because we'd only seen external side characters appearing and disappearing not her. i know there's two other books with that one character who clearly knows how to time jump but i kept waiting for quinn to do it regularly and harness her power.

i kind of wish meg and jeff had been part of something bigger and played a game with nick and quinn because it would have made it interesting but oh well.

anyway, it was a good sequel but a little dragged out. i defo loved the first book more. 4 stars!

This one was not as good as book 1, but still really. These books are so romantic and timeless. I love that Nick and Quinn found each other in every lifetime. I enjoyed getting some answers on what had happened before, and who some of the characters were. I am really excited to move on to books 3 and 4. If you enjoy romance, time travel, and a dash of mystery, these books are definitely for you!

I'm so glad that I was listening to this book on audio, because had I opted for kindle there is NO way I would have gotten anything done on New Year's Eve (2024).

What a story! I was fangirl flailing to Ms Brentmoore online about it and she assured me that I'd be hooked, and she was absolutely spot on. This story had me in a chokehold trying to work out what the ending was going to be like. I was wrong on all counts of course, and was delighted. The first two books work as a complete series in their own right, but it sets things up to explore the history of other characters in what follows. Now that I've seen the long term game that was being played, I'm really curious to see how it all comes together.

Romance, suspense and time travel - what a combination! I'm kicking off 2025 with books 3 & 4 in this series and I can't wait. This is some exceptional storytelling, which is elevated by the outstanding narration of Samantha Brentmoore and Jason Clarke. The bulk of the story is told from Quinn's perspective, and rightfully so, but Jason's narration adds a wonderful counterpoint. Those two make a powerful dream team when it comes to voice acting, and they've long been one of my automatic 'Add to Cart' options. Now anything written by Elle/Elizabeth O'Roark is on that list too.

this felt like that episode of the big bang theory where sheldon was explaining the plot to back to the future
