I have really been struggling with the contemporary romance genre lately and I am not really sure why. It has been my most read genre for the last 8 years. I have been reading and enjoying other genres lately, but I still try out CR in between other reads.

I am happy to say that this one worked for me! Aly Martinez has been a reliable author in the past and I have been meaning to get to this duet for a long time. It is different than I expected- which was a pleasant surprise. I am invested and ready for book 2.

5 Stars doesn't do this story justice. It's the most beautifully, intriguing, heart wrenching love story. Not easy, not filled with butterflies and unicorns, it deals with real life, real loss and the love and hate that it can evoke. Infertility...and the struggles that can come along with that portrayed in an honest, real to life way that makes you feel the loss, the success as if it's your own. In a way only Aly Martinez can deliver...and deliver she does. Powerful, insightful, and with a twist of gut wrenching suspense for everyone involved that makes this journey worth every second spent reading it and more...now if you'll excuse me whilst I drink my weight in vodka while waiting for book 2..

OMG what a great book! I read both the first and second. I liked the first better. I thought her husband's temper was a little over the top but I loved that he was just waiting to get back together with her. That they were never really meant to be apart. I ate this book up! Great read!

OMG, this book is everything

I love all of Aly's stuff, but this quite possibly could be my favorite of hers. Lesbihonest, i am kinda in love with Quarry, hes my favorite page, but HOT CRAP BALLS... ROMAN. Had me singing Salt and Pepa, WHATTA MAN every time i flipped the page!! and Elisabeth, was kick ass. How much did one couple have to go through. I mean they were put through the damn ringer.

Roman was a strong alpha male, and you could tell he was broken by a lot of things he had to go through. Especially how he felt about Elisabeth.

Elisabeth fought time and time again for the relationship- but it felt at a certain point Roman checked out, when in his mind he wasn't doing anything wrong.

This story is told in multiple POV's with a POV thrown in there about the second couple in Transfer. Its amazing how the stories intertwined with one another, and i can't wait to see how Transfer pans out. I was left with my jaw hanging open at the end, because i didn't see the "twist" coming.

This book is everything, you have GOT to read it. one of my tops from 2016, and i am sure transfer will be much the same. Aly has it all- romance, suspense, mystery, and sex (duh) So you won't want to miss this duet!

What an emotional roller coaster this story was. My heart shattered for both Lis and Roman. I could only imagine the pain and the emotions these two went through. Then with all these twists and turns, I was left breathless with the results.
What I really loved about this story is how Lis and Roman found their way back to each other through something so twisted and unexpected that it leaves your mind blown! The chemistry these two have is undeniable. Sizzling and off the charts regardless of what is going on around them.
Then there is Clare. At first I was thrown for a loop with that extra PoV but it added so much depth to the story. The turmoil that poor woman has to endure thanks to her jerk of a husband. All she wants to do no matter what is protect her daughter. And she does just that.
What I can say is that ending. Holy moly did not see it coming! I am seriously needing answers and I need to know more like stat! If you want an emotionally twisted up tale, snag this book and be prepared for a ride of a life time!

5 HOLD ON TO YOUR SEAT CROWNS

What an utterly epic journey! There is heartbreak, suspense, and a fight for family and all the things that matter. This adventure will absolutely have you sitting on the edge of your seat!

The first book in the duet focuses on the Elisabeth and Roman reclaiming all that they have lost after being torn apart by fertility issues and as a result the destruction them as a couple. When the reader encounters these two again, they have moved in a hypothetical sense but are quick to reconnect when they realize the flicker of love is still present. While their reunion is fast-paced, the author does take the time to show the reader the big conversations that they would need to have in order to heal. What I enjoy most about them as a couple is their energy, their protectiveness of each other, and their tenacity to go after what they want, which for most of the novel is each other.

What came to overshadow the relationship for me was the actual plot line of the story that centers around Clare, Elisabeth, and Roman. From the minute the pieces started falling together I needed to read faster to see how it was all going to play out. I needed answers, I needed to see how everything was connected, I needed to know how it was all going to end. The story completely gripped me and had me frantically swiping my Kindle screen hoping for more. Yes, there will be more as the Transfer will be releasing soon, but I needed to know now. For me, this is truly the sign of a well-developed, well-paced, engaging plot.

Additional note, the manner in which she addresses the emotional turmoil that comes with fertility issues is done so with as much reverence as possible. She accurately depicts the emotions of couples struggling with these problems, and what I ultimately love is that she shows how couples can come back and grow stronger together.

Aly Martinez ‘s Retrieval will have you reeling from all the emotional turmoil you endure throughout the book. You will love these characters, their story, and you will be cheering to for them to get the ending they so deserve. I certainly cannot wait to see the conclusion of this epic journey with Transfer.

This story was very different from what I typically read. First, this couple was already married. Had already been together, knew each other, and now they are learning to make it work again. Another thing that was extremely different was the three point of views. No, it's not a love triangle. Although I understand why the author chose to have three point of views, I didn't think it was absolutely necessary. It kind of made the story a little choppy for me, and I found myself having to go back to remember where we were at with each character.
