While this is definitely an all-time classic in the field of philosophy, especially if you are a Christian, I don’t know if I would recommend this for someone to actually read. Kierkegaard’s message is very good, and very helpful. But this book was unbelievably dense and difficult to follow. His writing style feels unnecessarily lofty and over the top. Very cerebral and difficult to read. I am glad I experienced this classic work of Christian Existentialism, but I can’t say this is a page turner.

Finally finished!
This was a hard but thought provoking book. The second half apply uniquely to Christianity in the south. These thoughts are helpful especially to those who work and live in the church.
