It was better than the last one but still feels formulaic. Bex is older, married and a mom and yet still has little character development. The same issues from book one feel more than a bit cyclical by book 7. And the quasi cliffhanger was presumptuous in assuming we'll come back for Book 8 to see what happens.

If you go into the Shopaholic books looking for fine literature, you're going to be let down. If you go in looking for a damn good time, you're probably all set ... unless you went into this one.
Echoing the sentiments of other commenters, this book just didn't do it. Unlike most of these people, I really DID enjoy the previous book ([b:Mini Shopaholic|7415016|Mini Shopaholic (Shopaholic, #6)|Sophie Kinsella|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388191918s/7415016.jpg|9351456]) ... but like them, I was completely gobsmacked by the unlikeability of Becky in this book -- particularly because she is normally pretty spastic but completely lovable. The plot pacing was really, really off -- so that it both dragged and whirled completely out of control.
I will, of course, read the next book as it comes out (looks like the whole crew is headed to Vegas, baby!), but I hope Kinsella manages to recapture some Bloomwood sparkle.

Becky gets really lost in all the glitz of Hollywood and it seems to overwhelm the story. You have to read Shopaholic to the Rescue to finish the story and be satisfied.

I love Sophie Kinsella. When I am in the mood for a chicklit book, she is my #1 go-to. This book did not disappoint. I laughed out loud (like a crazy person in public), and enjoyed the story from page 1 to the end.
Spoiler
My only problem - - it has a cliffhanger ending!! I have never had that in one of her books, and I wasn't expecting it. Arrrghhh Ms. Kinsella, now I have to wait like a year for your next book! I'm not really complaining, I wouldn't actually change anything that can actually be changed (if I could though I would bend time to see the next book now!). But I will definitely have more urgency to read her next book!!willow1099's review against another edition

Becky is back...and she's made some progress in her life journey to being less self-centered it seems, but maybe not as much as every reader would like, but then she wouldn't be Becky. There were several plot lines running throughout the book that I enjoyed as the story was as complex as ever. I am looking forward to the next installment though because not everything is resolved in this one. The new scenery and commentary on fame and new age treatments is very interesting and the book builds in typical fashion, but the resolution is a good one!

I forgot how infuriating Becky Bloomwood can be. You just want to shake her, but then she finally pulls her head out of her ass. I did NOT like that this had a cliffhanger and now I need to read the next one to figure out what is going on.

Terribly disappointed. I couldn't even finish it... Loved the first few in the series but I am done with the Shopaholic books now. Annoying characters and no story line... Waste of time.
