2.5 stars. There is an omnipresent presence in this book that is very annoying. It tells you to observe the characters and reveals things about them rather than allowing the characters and their actions to do this.
I figured out the murderer almost at once; however, their reason for killing the victim was thrown at us in the big reveal at the end.

The author does not provide the opportunity for us to solve the mystery or at least make guesses.I figured out the murderer almost at once; however, their reason for killing the victim was thrown at us in the big reveal at the end.

My humble opinion: 4,5 stars for the way it's written, its characters and the atmosphere.
3 stars for the actual mystery. Thumbs up!

An easy to read festive cosy crime book perfect for over the Christmas period. I enjoyed this book, the characters were great, the setting beautifully described and it did keep me guessing until the end.

This is exactly the sort of book that I normally love but there was something missing here. I finished it but the ending didn’t come as a huge surprise and there was just something a bit “thin” about it. I can’t quite point to what except that unusually for a murder mystery nothing much happens. There are some nice bits of writing and some wry turns of phrase, but it wasn’t quite enough to keep me truly interested.
In short it was just a bit flat.

The writing style is a little wordy, but lends itself to the time the book is set in and the classic mystery setting. I want to get to know all of the characters more. All in all it’s a good classic mystery set around the holidays

The murderer is rather obvious but the story itself is a fun nod to classic detective fiction as well as country house novels. It’s just satirical enough to be entertaining without making a mockery of the genre.

Every winter, I get in the mood for classic murder mysteries, and when I saw "Murder Most Festive" I knew it was gonna be the perfect December read. And I was right!
This book reads like a cross-over between Agatha Christie and Downton Abbey, with an unpredictable plot and characters that are as multi-layered as the mystery at the story's centre. This truly is the perfect book to read over Christmas!

i Really liked this one, though it was a bit dragged out. The characters were Fantastic and cracked me up enough to keep going and get it finished.
